“Q: What has ACC done to increase pro bono activities by in-house counsel?

A: Pro bono work is such an important and enriching element of the legal profession, but the challenges—getting started, time, resources, priorities—are real, so we try to make it as easy as possible for in-house departments to get a pro bono program going. To start, ACC has our Corporate Pro Bono (CPBO) partnership, which is a global project with the Pro Bono Institute. CPBO helps in-house counsel establish or improve their legal department’s pro bono efforts and also works directly with ACC chapters by organizing volunteers from formal and informal pro bono programs, to assist clients in need. Finally, CPBO also offers resources and consulting to help legal departments address the universal issues of time constraints and limited resources.”
