PHILADELPHIA, Jun 28, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) — The Pep Boys — Manny, Moe & Jack, the nation’s leading automotive aftermarket service and retail chain, has been named Best Pro Bono and Community Service Legal Team of the Year by the Legal Intelligencer.
Pep Boys’ legal team was nominated for this honor by the Philadelphia-based, Homeless Advocacy Program (HAP).
“Although we are a small department, we are committed to giving back to the community in which we work,” said General Counsel Brian Zuckerman. “When Homeless Advocacy Project Executive Director Marsha Cohen approached us a few years ago about sponsoring the Stenton Family Manor legal clinic, which just so happens to be located a few miles from our headquarters office, my department was unanimous in its response. To be able to help homeless women and their children in some small way has been incredibly rewarding to all of us.”
Brian continued, “The ones truly deserving of recognition are Marsha and her staff at HAP. They work every day to help others. And special thanks to Joe Kernen and his team at DLA Piper who co-sponsor the clinic with us.”
The Legal Intelligencer recognized the Pep Boys’ in-house counsel in the June 28 supplement “2011 Legal Departments of the Year.”
