Please welcome the newest Corporate Pro Bono Challenge℠ Signatories: American Electric Power, SYNNEX Corporation, and Kaplan Higher Education. The legal departments of these companies have become the latest corporate legal departments to sign onto the Corporate Pro Bono Challenge℠, developed by Corporate Pro Bono (CPBO), a joint initiative of the Association of Corporate Counsel and the Pro Bono Institute.
Congratulations to John B. Keane, Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and Secretary of American Electric Power, Simon Y. Leung, Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary of SYNNEX Corporation, and Janice L. Block, Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer of Kaplan Higher Education for making this commitment to pro bono a matter of record by signing the Corporate Pro Bono Challenge℠.
The Challenge is designed to empower corporate legal departments to identify, benchmark, and communicate their commitment to pro bono service. As part of the Challenge, Chief Legal Officers encourage and promote pro bono service by their legal department staff and use their best efforts to encourage at least one-half of their legal staff to support and participate in pro bono service. In addition, Chief Legal Officers encourage outside law firms with whom they work to acknowledge publicly their support for pro bono by becoming Signatories to the Pro Bono Institute’s Law Firm Pro Bono Challenge℠. All Corporate Challenge Signatory legal departments receive information, guidance, and tailored support, free of charge, from CPBO to strengthen their existing pro bono programs or to start new ones. Please visit the CPBO website to view the full text of the Corporate Challenge or to find the complete list of Corporate Challenge Signatories.
To become a Challenge Signatory, or to obtain more information about the CPBO Challenge, please contact Eve Runyon, director of CPBO, via email at erunyon@probonoinst.org, or visit the CPBO website at www.cpbo.org.
