“Illinois lawyers provided about 1.1 million hours of pro bono work last year to people of limited financial means, but thanks to the recent action of the Illinois Supreme Court, those hours should soon increase.
Hundreds of corporate attorneys who do not have an Illinois law license will now be allowed to provide free legal work for underprivileged clients. Chief Justice Thomas L. Kilbride, who made the announcement, said it could make Illinois a leader in such services.”
