Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), a global science and technology company, today announced the launch of a pro bono legal initiative to serve U.S. veterans, community non-profit organizations, and citizens in need.
As a major contractor serving the U.S. Department of Defense, Leidos has a long-standing commitment to supporting military veterans and their families. The company currently employs more than 6,000 veterans, comprising nearly 20 percent of its workforce. Leidos also has an active Military Alliance Group (MAG), with a mission of serving as an advocate and resource for former military service personnel employees and active duty personnel and their families. The pro bono initiative, led by the Leidos legal department and General Counsel Vince Maffeo, is a natural continuation of the company’s commitment to the nation’s military members.
To further the engagement, Leidos became a signatory to the Pro Bono Institute’s Corporate Pro Bono Challenge® initiative, which is a voluntary statement of commitment to pro bono service by legal departments, their lawyers, and staff. By signing the Challenge, Leidos solidifies its pledge to identify, benchmark, and communicate its support for pro bono services. Leidos is one of the first companies in the defense industry to join the Challenge.
