“As well as supporting the pro-bono efforts of the firms that work for Telstra, the company’s in-house legal team has been accepting pro-bono work on referral, working free for good causes.
General counsel Carmel Mulhern said the push to take such a hands-on approach was about her team’s view of its professional responsibilities. The Telstra legal department, which has about 180 lawyers, was just like any other part of the company that had responsibilities as a good corporate citizen, she said.”
