“After spending years on the sidelines, a growing number of corporate legal departments have launched pro bono efforts to provide everything from legal advice on landlord disputes to assisting small business owners with preparing for audits, filing incorporation papers and registering patents and trademarks.
The companies are unlikely to get new clients as a result of the volunteer work, but it can burnish their image as good corporate citizens. Moreover, young attorneys can use pro bono opportunities as a way to hone their legal skills.”
